Jean Shrimpton magazine covers in chronological order
Magazine Covers:
Magazines where Jean Shrimpton appears on the cover form roughly half of my collection. I have over 330. Many of mine are post-1968 (when it was mentioned that Shrimpton had been on over 400 covers by that point). Considering that she had been on over 300 covers by 1966, I am not sure where else to look for covers at this time. I have been pretty thorough in my search and continue to look as I discover new possibilities. There are about 12 that I know of that are not in my collection, but I am very curious about the other 125-odd magazine covers. Again, I have used the term “magazine” loosely in some instances. I have included brochures, catalogs, counter books and magazine supplements as covers. I have only included photos of magazines where Jean Shrimpton appears on the cover. I have not included any interior layouts from within magazines. I have included some ads within the “Career” and “Yardley” sections of this website. If I were to add the number of magazines where Jean Shrimpton does not appear on the cover (but only within the magazine), I have just over 740 magazines.
For ease of reference, I have grouped the magazines on this page solely in chronological order. On the main page they are grouped in ABC order and then chronologically by date of appearance. One thing that I have found very interesting is that the same photo was often used for multiple covers in various countries. Another interesting thing to note is that sometimes Shrimpton was featured on the cover but there was nothing about her inside of the magazine. I suppose the magazines considered her photo alone a good selling point.
According to Woman’s Mirror, Jean Shrimpton had been on 325 covers by September 1966 and by 1968 she had been on over 400 covers. I don’t have an accurate number for how many covers she was on throughout her career. I could only take an educated guess. I would guess that the number was somewhere around 500 by 1975 or so. She continues to be featured on covers now, even 50+ years later. Seventeen magazines from my collection are post-1975.
